Web Diamond Series

One of my favorites series of photographs I’ve created is the Web Diamond Series. The photos were taken just after the sun came up over Wakodahatchee Wetlands in Delray Beach, Florida. Wakodahatchee is a beautiful place to visit. It’s free(!) and there are many different species of wildlife to see year round. Most people go for the gators and birds, which are both fascinating, but I try to capture what people don’t usually see.

A Smaller Point of View

When I arrived that morning, I expected to be photographing birds, turtles and alligators. These glistening spiderwebs caught my eye. They were covered with dew and reflected the sunlight that reminded me of diamonds! I got in very close with my macro lens to take the photos. All the while trying not to bump them with my lens. The results were beautiful. When I inverted the colors on the computer, the photos were transformed into unique point of view.

Abstract Art

The after effect of the color being inverted turns these everyday photos into abstract works of art. I love using this method as it gets people talking or guessing as to what the photo is about. Life is not always about the big picture or what you see everyday. Sometimes, the smallest things can stir your mind and give you a different perspective. For me it was this Inverted: Web Diamond Series.

What is your ‘something small’ today? JM
